At the Cloud Summit of the 2020 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, which opened on July 9, the British Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) launched a new journal “IET Blockchain” in cooperation with Tongji University and the Shanghai Blockchain Application Service Engineering Technology Research Center. This is the world’s first international journal in the professional field of blockchain. It aims to publish cutting-edge research results, technological innovations, and the latest viewpoints related to the basic theory, application technology, and industrial development of blockchain.

Blockchain technology and its application started with cryptocurrency. In recent years, with the progress of research and the maturity of technology, blockchain technology has rapidly extended from the financial world to industrial, commercial, and social life, covering various aspects such as content distribution, data management, energy trade, and supply chain monitoring. In China, this technology, along with artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, has become a key discipline in the national strategic sense.

With the rapid popularization of blockchain technology and applications worldwide, academia and industry urgently need an international authoritative high-level academic journal to carry out exchanges and discussions to promote the deepening of basic research and the development of industrial applications. With the general trend of blockchain becoming a global technology and industry hotspot, the Shanghai Blockchain Application Service Engineering Technology Research Center and the British Institute of Engineering and Technology launched a new journal IET Blockchain and released it at the Cloud Summit of the 2020 World Artificial Intelligence Conference.
