Chengdu is expected to announce a pilot digital currency around May 1st. In the internal test application scenario of Chengdu, merchants will focus on online and offline integration of consumption. According to relevant sources, the first batch of merchants is mainly strategic partners selected by the four major banks and the three major telecommunication operators for their in-depth cooperation. Each bank selects 2–3 merchants. The cooperative merchants that have been confirmed include traditional online channel giants such as JD.com and Tmall, as well as practical application scenarios such as Cainiaoyizhan, Tianhong Department Store, Starbucks, and so on. In addition, the Taikoo Li business district is also expected to be selected as a landing merchant cluster due to its advantageous geographic location and business conditions.
